For a change of pace, here's a reminder of what Fred Moore is really all about--be sure to click it to see the larger version:
A terrific prize from James Walker's collection. At least 36" long, this was done as a present for the son of a fellow animator. Obviously framed, hence the glare and slight cutoff--but as I like to say "what's there is cherce".
Happy Thursday!

awesome piece! I'd like to send a huge thanks to Mr. Walker for sharing his amazing collection.
a happy thursday it is.
Hey, let's not forget it was Spencer Tracy who first said "What's there is cherce", in 1952's "Pat and Mike" when talking about Katherine Hepburn's lithe basketball playing character. The late Bill Scott picked it up but always attributed it to Tracy.
Anonymous, I have't forgotten--but Spence was just saying his lines, remember. ; )
I'd almost added the credit "quote from Garson Kanin and Ruth Gordon"--who wrote that line for "Pat and Mike"...I should've done it. You got me!
Wow, what a beauty! This would look great on my wall!! ;-)
very cool!
Once upon a time, I worked with Bob Hatchcock, son of Jerry Hatchcock, who knew Fred well. Bob had a drawing on the wall of himself as a little boy, drawn by Fred. Can you imagine having a portrait of yourself drawn by Fred?
No, I can't! and Mark--this'll blow you away: that's who this is, in fact--and who it was done for--none other than Bob Hathcock!! For his birthday!
Moore was obviously really close to that family, wasn't he? What did Bob have to say about Fred? Unbelievable...
Anybody have any photos of Freddie's mural in Disney's "Penthouse Club."
I use to sneak upstairs to get a look at it on occasion. You had to be a big boy to become a member. Anyway, really beautiful stuff.
Don't let the word, "Penthouse" scare you. This was decades before the magazine.
Floyd...I have a copy of Fred's Penthouse mural. I will try and get it to Jenny soon so she can take a picture of it to post on her blog. I was at Disney TV animation when they converted the penthouse to a snack bar, they tore the mural down no one thought to save it...JTW
Mucho thanks, anonymous. I'm not surprised no one thought to save it.
I'm still amazed that Disney lacked the foresight to save much of their history. I was around and watched Disney art being destroyed because they didn't want to store it, and sure the heck didn't want anybody else to have it.
I really should have been taking more photos myself.
