I want this book:
Out of print and out of chance. Merde!
I have another book by this author, and it's just jam-packed with heretofore unpublished animation drawings(many in sequence, in fold-out pages), visdev, rough drawings--all kinds of artwork that make it a veritable sequel along the lines of "Illusion of Life". That one(the one I own)is called "De Blanche-Neige a Hercule"--"From Snow White to Hercules".

it might pop up on abebooks.com every once in a while. I was lucky and snagged it while amazon.fr still had them in stock. And yes, Renaut's other book is equally as great.
Good luck with your hunt.

Thanks, Uncle Phil! Is it true that it's got as many animation drawings and other unpubbed stuff as the silver, "tinkerbell" book? That one's pretty hefty!
And that's a good tip-I hadn't thought of ABE, but they do get things from every corner of the globe. Good tip!
hey jenny,
i picked up that book on amazon.france, but i guess that's not an option any more. it's loaded with beautiful drawings.
good luck.
I've got this book Jenny, and yes, it also contains drawings and painting I hadn't seen before. Good stuff.
Thanks Barry, Willi'-you lucky guys!
Well, maybe if I go to one of those memorabilia shows--in Paris. There's got to be "cons" there too, right? I'll keep my eyes open! I'm so bummed I lost out snagging it on Amazon.fr; they're a great resource.
I've been searching for it for a while now, but still no luck. Just that cover drawing would make me want to buy it. Maybe it would still be available at disneyland paris? Didn't see it last time I went there, though.. just imagineering books and horribly damaged illusion of life's
No chance you'll find it at disneyland paris. It was sold out there quite some years ago.
weird you should mention this book - I keep thinking about posting stuff from it, because it's great artwork that no one has seen. I only wish I could read it! Check ebay for it as well.
Jeez, Mark--did the entire FA story dept. get a copy of this?! I'm so out of the loop! Wah!
Actually, I only "discovered" this elusive thing about 2 years ago when looking up the other book, the big fat silver one of his on Amazon.fr, for someone who wanted a copy. Do you have that one too? If you post something from the "Heroines" I'll get busy with the other one!
We had a copy of "Les Héroïnes Disney" in the library at Feature Animation in Orlando , but that's the only place I've ever seen it. I've searched high and low (Amazon.fr , eBay, etc.) but so far no luck finding it . It's a beautiful book . I hope you find one. (but not before me ! Oh ? did I just say that out loud ? bad me).
Mark Kennedy: thank you in advance if you post some of the drawings from that book .
The thought occurs to me that a lot of good stuff is getting posted on individual blogs , but I wonder if what is needed is some sort of central database, like an "Animation History Wiki" , to post out-of-print or never-in-print rare material . Since a "Wikipedia" is a scholarly enterprise it might protect against any suggestion of copyright infringement. It would be understood that everything posted would be for research/educational purposes, not financial gain . The main thing that would be needed would be server space to host the image files.
Actually, it was Mr. Johnson (see above) who let me know they existed! How he found them, I don't know. And yeah, I've got both of them (if I remember, I got them from alapage.com).
That book! I've been looking for it everywhere, I hope I can find it someday!
HA! It's great to know other people have been trying to find this book as long as me.. Good luck with it!
so i guess i am the unluckiest in the group: i found it in the Annecy bookshop during the festival, three years ago. it was the last copy and i was about to buy the book, just quickly collecting the money from all the pockets i had...and someone bought it, right in front of my eyes.
i think the expression on my face that moment was just indescribable..

You'd think having the ARL at their fingertips would be enough. Disney Story Artists! Sell me your copies! :)
Worth a shot...
I saw it for sale on here if you're still looking for it.
