Disney's 1956 Holiday Card
Another old favorite, originally posted when I started this blog two years ago: the Disney Studio's 1956 Christmas card. It looks much better in person. Click on the images to enlarge them.
I have this card framed and on my wall--it's been there for years--I was a little surprised to see it on your page--these images make me a little sad sometimes--especially at Christmastime--but I continue to collect and accumulate them as they make me feel connected to a time that I missed--and in that I feel somehow safe. I'm not quite sure what that all means really--nevertheless---Merry Christmas Jenny!
Hi! today I decided I wanted to visit all of my favorite blogs and say Merry Christmas, and Blackwing Diaries is one of them. I just wanted to say thanks because I read you every morning and you bring a lot of inspiration to my artwork. So: Thank you very much. I really wish you a merry Christmas and a wonderful new year!
Nice - I remember a lot of those early Disneyland efforts fondly, altho not the food. Looks like the Revisionist Tink, tho, which was my big beef with Disney as a kid - for while she was disturbingly androgynized, and I was a little creeped out back then. My first visit wasn't too many years later than '56, and was unforgettable - it was like walking into another world, so their intentions were validated, at least for me then, and wasn't topped there until the Yippie Invasion. Happy Holidays!
Oh, Patrick-you make me feel like George Bailey! : ) Same to you & Nina, and thank you for your wonderful drawing! It's a treasure.
Merry Christmas to you & your family, Mark! And thanks for all the work you've done to share with everyone this year-that's real work, and it's very beautifully done.
The reader comments are moderated by me which sometimes takes a while to do, so if your comment doesn't appear immediately don't worry-it'll show up. Thanks!
Very nice! Happy Holidays Jenny!!!
